Mika had always dreamed of winning her first LPGA Tour event, and that dream has come true, with her winning the LPGA Tour Safeway Classic, with a total score of -13 under par. Japan's Mika claimed her first title with a closing two-under 70 to overcome the challenges of Inbee Park and Brittany Lincicome, who both finished at -11 under par. Mika won by two shots, and afterwards spoke of her dreams;
"It was my dream to win and play on the LPGA Tour. It is very fulfilling for me to win along with those other famous players. At the beginning of the season, my short game was no good. I try to work more on short game, my golf game is getting better. I have more confidence in my golf game."
Mika is the sixth first-time winner this year and finally broke through for the victory after she had earned two second-place finishes earlier this year.
Yani Tseng, the World number one, shot a disappointing final round of 73 to finish at -6 under par, a long way back from the leaders.
Well done Mika, a wonderful achievement.
