U.S Woman's Amateur Championship, Kiwi Lydia Ko in the final August 12 2012
Lydia Ko/Thomas Ondrey"I wanted to try my best and not be disappointed. It’s pretty awesome to get to the final because this is the greatest amateur event. I have a 50-50 chance, I’m pretty confident. Sometimes luck is with you, and sometimes it’s not." In the semi-finals Lydia defeated Ariya Jutanugarn, beating her 3 and 1, to triumphantly advance to Sunday’s scheduled 36-hole championship final. Lydia will now play Jaye Marie Green, 18, of Boca Raton, Fla., who is ranked No. 7 in the WAGR. Jaye Marie said after eliminating 20-year-old Nicole Zhang, 2 up, in the other semifinal match; "I’m really excited and blessed to be playing the world No. 1. Just knowing that I'm still in the running to be the United States champion gives me the chills. She hung in there the whole time. I really feel like I'm dreaming." Good Luck Lydia, New Zealand's golfers are all cheering for you, I know you can not hear us but we are with you.
