Rory McIlroy has admitted his desire to emulate Luke Donald and become the world number one. Luke Donald is still working to become the first golfer to top the money lists on both sides of the Atlantic. He is in the top spot in the race to Dubai, and is a hot favorite to win the race. Rory commented, “He is deservedly the number one player, he’s been the most consistent performer over the past 12 to 18 months. “That’s the sort of level of golf I’ll need to play to overtake him and try and get the number one spot.” Read More Justin Rose has said he is ready to challenge for a major next year and is in good shape to contend successfully. "I don't want to put too much emphasis on the majors, but I want to compete next year with them in mind," he told Reuters ahead of this week's Hong Kong Open. So I will be trying to get myself into a great routine and let it happen. "Also, I feel as though the majors are a stepping stone right now. I feel like the tournaments I've won, I'm building up nicely and outside of the World Golf Championships, the majors are the next step up the ladder." Paidraig Harrington is also hoping to get to the majors next year and he is gunning to win in Hong Kong to get himself into the worlds top 50. “It’s quite important to be in the top 50 in the world, certainly for the two World Golf Championships in February and March. Yes, I probably need a top six in Hong Kong to qualify for Dubai but I’m only thinking of winning because if you win, everything else takes care of itself.”
